I shared a vegan meal with two vegetarians at Old School Vegetarian Restaurant and they can't wait to go back! Find out what's so good about it!
Update October 2018: Old School Vegetarian Restaurant is permanently closed
I'm so glad that I discovered Old School Vegetarian Cafe
I'd heard murmurs about Old School Vegetarian Cafe, and then ended up there by accident! A few of us had gone to Kew Gardens, and although we'd discussed having dinner together, I didn't realise they had planned to take me there, and they didn't know that I'd wanted to eat there for a while! It worked out so well.
What is Old School Vegetarian Cafe like?
It's spacious, informal, and has a lovely feel about it. The people who own it have worked very hard to ensure that vegetarians and vegans alike, don't feel like they're missing out in any way! The menu is vast, and the owners are planning to extend it further.
I've been there twice, and I remember meeting the chef on both occasions. During my first visit, he brought out one of the dishes, because he wanted to tell my friends that he regretted not having more options without onions, garlic and potatoes. He later said suggested that they call a day or more in advance, so that they have more choice. When I went for the second time, he brought some of the food out, and was sharing his enthusiasm for extending the vegan options on the menu!
They care about their customers and really want to serve them well. Below you'll see photos of some of the items we enjoyed.
So would I go back there? Oh yes!
Is it hard to eat out when you're vegan? Definitely not!
