Dairy production in India: the misconceptions and hidden truths
I watched this documentary a couple of days ago, and I shared it with lots of people straight away. It sparked a lot of conversation, which made me realise how important it was and that I had to share it here.
The documentary
Here's a bit of information about the documentary:
It's about 27 minutes long
It's in Hindi
There are subtitles in English
It's about 2 people visiting dairy farms in 7 different cities in India
They show different ways that farmers get the cows to give milk
This ranges from injecting them with a chemical that's banned in India, getting the calf to suckle and then removing it so the milk can be collected in a bucket and then sold, creating a kind of box using a dead calf's skin to trick the Mum into producing milk and more
They talk about Krishna's love for milk
They discover and conclude that beef and dairy are 2 sides of the same coin
They come across a lot of secrecy, vague answers and objections
They are confused by the fact that there are so many bulls and cows but zero, or only a few calves, and then they find out why
After asking repeatedly, they find out what happens to the mothers who stop providing milk
In my opinion, it's not graphic or violent, and it's definitely worth watching and sharing.
