How to find out if what you're buying is made from animals or not
It can be a bit daunting when you know you don't want to buy something but you don't know how to find out what it's made of.
Some people don't mind asking the staff in the shop whilst others want to browse and decide without any input from anyone else.
Here's something that will make things easier for you. When you're shopping for clothes, belts, shoes etc. look for the symbols shown below.
If part, or all of it, is made from animal skin, you should see these symbols
This symbol will tell you if it contains wool
If the item is made of textile or other vegan materials you'll see these symbols
What you can do if the label doesn't tell you which materials have been used
Materials, such as, silk, wool, feathers and felt are often listed on the label, as opposed to, having their own symbol. However, if in doubt ask a member of staff. When shopping on line, I use the 'contact us' option to find out what material a product is made from. It often means waiting a day or so to find out but I'd rather do that than buy something which isn't vegan.
“It is not for me to judge another man's life. I must judge, I must choose, I must spurn, purely for myself. For myself, alone.”
- Hermann Hesse
