Dining out: Bonnington Café
How Bonnington Cafe got onto my list of places to eat at
I came across a post on BuzzFeed, which listed 21 unmissable vegan places in London. I had been to some of them but Bonnington Café was one of the ones I'd not eaten at.
My mission was to tick a few boxes in one go. This involved having a lovely meal, going somewhere I hadn't eaten before, time out with a friend and gain something that I can share with you.
I'm happy to say that all of the boxes were ticked!
A bit about Bonnington Café
Walking to the Café from the station was gorgeous. It was quiet, leafy, peaceful and felt like it wasn't part of London at all!
Bonnington Cafe is a co-operative. It's run by a group of cooks who aim to provide a delicious home cooked meal without it costing an arm and a leg.
They only take cash at the moment, so come prepared or you'll have to do what we did, and walk back towards the station to get some cash out and then return to pay the bill.
Getting there
It's not hard to find but I'm a bit pants with directions and finding my way, so I was blessed that my friend navigated us there with ease.
The meal
The meal was delicious! We shared 2 mains between us and 2 desserts too. I love eating this way, because, with this example in mind, we both got to taste 4 different dishes.
Do the photos make you want to pop in and grab a bite there?
Managing expectations
One of the waiters mentioned that it's best to check if they have any vegan options on the day, as although it doesn't happen very often; sometimes, there aren't any on the menu or they run out!
On a brighter and more definite note; Thursday is vegan day, so if you want more vegan options, that would be a great day to go!
Look out for updates on Facebook.
Return visit
I would go there again when I have more time, because the area around the restaurant is amazing! I'd love to sit in the green leafy square and read after having a delicious meal at the Café.
