Delicious vegan drinks everywhere
How things have changed
A few years ago, most vegans wouldn’t be able to go into the major chains and order a hot drink with non-dairy milk. Therefore, going into a café and being able to choose from a range of plant-based milk and having the option of adding vegan whipped cream was unimaginable!
Since then, things have changed hugely! Most cafés now offer a choice of soy, oat, coconut and almond milk. Also, they can veganise the majority of the drinks that are on the menu, they sell vegan sweet and savoury foods AND they offer vegan whipped cream! It’s amazing!
My favourite drinks
Over the last few years, I’ve been to a number of cafés and through trial and error, I’ve got a list of favourites, which interestingly, varies in different places.
In Pret A Manger, I have three favs!
decaffeinated cappuccino
decaffeinated flat white with coconut milk
decaffeinated mocha with coconut milk
In Costa Coffee, my favourite is a decaffeinated Dirty Chai with soya milk.
In Caffè Nero I like to order a decaffeinated mocha with coconut milk or a decaffeinated Dirty Chai with soya milk.
I thought that this was a pretty good list of drinks and I knew I’d love the end result! Some cafés have stopped charging extra for non-dairy milk too!
Something different
I’ve tried a few new drinks, for example, limited editions that are released around Christmas. This year, I was well chuffed with what I tried!
Caffè Nero
Don’t these festive lattes look good?
I managed to try the Salted Caramel Latte, the Spiced Gingerbread Latte and the Hazelnut Hot. They were all delicious.
What about independent cafés?
The Love Shack
This Beetroot Latte by The Love Shack is divine!
Bould Brothers Coffee
When we were in Cambridge last year, we popped into Bould Brothers Coffee. I wanted to try something different, so I ordered The Potion. Oh my goodness! It was so nice! I could have had another one there and then!
Mildred’s
This may look like it’s in the wrong place! The reason I haven’t talked about cold drinks before now is because I’m not a huge fan of soft drinks. I don’t really like fizzy drinks and I often find that the other options are sickly sweet, concentrated or simply not my type of drink! For these reasons, I tend to opt for hot water, which I love. However, I read the description and was curious. I can’t remember a cold drink that I’ve enjoyed more than this!
So what’s your favourite drink? Like mine, does it vary from place to place?
