Pop up until the end of February: Beanuts
What is beanuts?
beanuts is a pop up on Brick Lane. It was meant to be at this location until the end of January but this has been extended until the end of February.
beanuts is a coffee shop that caters for those who want a heavy breakfast, light bite, lunch, dinner, something sweet or a selection of dishes to have a meal that’s full of variety.
My experience of beanuts
Suraj had his eye on the place for a while and he took me to it a couple of weeks ago. We both loved it. We liked the decor, the simplicity of the set up, the thought that has gone into designing it e.g. providing sockets so that people can plug their devices in while they work without having wires all over the place and the menu was awesome.
They make their own milk and the fact that there were so many to choose from, made the experience and choices that beanuts offer, way above any other cafe I’ve been to.
The staff were friendly and chirpy which is always a good thing, and last but not least, the food was delicious! I’ll show you what we enjoyed later.
Returning to beanuts
We went to beanuts before going on a guided walking tour about street art. We ordered a fair bit but didn’t have time for dessert so we went back after the walk!
What we ordered
The portions were generous and we probably shouldn’t have ordered so much but I have no regrets! Here’s what we ordered:-
Rye soup – white borscht: A soup made of soured rye flour specific to the cuisines of Poland and Belarus, where it is known as żurek
Vegan omelette: Chickpea omelette with fresh salad, pickled onion and tofu sauce
Platter for two: A selection of dips (sunflower cottage cheese / cashew cream cheese / no egg no mayo paste / pistachio spread / dip of the day) , choice of bread, veggies and garnishes
Coconut flapjack: Flapjack served with coco whipped cream
Lemon poppy seed cookie: Zesty and lemony!
My recommendation
Pop in before the end of February and then keep an eye out to find out where their permanent location will be.
