Clothing for the cold!
Comfort and movement
Anyone who knows me will be aware that I like to be warm and cosy. However, I also like walking and I don’t want the cold weather to stop from me walking. This is especially important in the UK because we have a lot of ‘cold’ days.
A recommendation from a friend
My friend Rekha told me about these inners that she got from Uniqlo. She told me enough about them to make me want to go and check them out ASAP!
I now have nine different items from this range of amazing clothing! More about that in a bit. :)
The caveat
The entire range is not vegan and Uniqlo’s staff don’t seem to know this. I am basing this on getting inconsistent information from articles, two visits instore when asking several members of staff and chatting to an agent via the website.
Some of the range contains milk protein. I have been told that this will be specified on the website. Thankfully, none of the items that I’ve purchased contain milk protein!
The range
So the range is called HEATTECH and it’s by Uniqlo.
What is it and what’s so good about it?
it’s a range of clothing including leggings, tights, t-shirts and more
the fabric absorbs and retains body heat
it prevents warmth from escaping while keeping the body dry
the material is smooth, thin and light so you don’t feel like you’re wearing loads of layers
they have a range of colours
the clothing is categorised according to the level of warmth that it provides
What have I purchased?
My original purchase was for the following:
a pair of the Extra Warm Cotton Thermal Leggings
a pair of the Thermal Leggings
the Extra Warm Cotton Scoop Neck Long Sleeved Thermal in two different colours
the Scoop Neck Long Sleeved Thermal in two different colours
I’ve worn the leggings underneath walking trousers when I’ve gone for a long walk and it’s been extra cold. They have been priceless!
I tend to wear the long-sleeved tops underneath jumpers to keep me snug. However, recently, I’ve worn them underneath a sweat-wicking t-shirt which was followed by a hoodie, on top of which I wore a jacket. This has kept me comfortable while walking outside after the temperature dropped.
My most recent purchase was for the following:
a pair of the Extra Warm Pile Lined Thermal Tights
The tights
I wore the knitted tights with a jumper dress and although that was enough a few days ago, it wouldn’t have been enough on Thursday! The temperature dropped to 1 degree Celsius and I had tickets for an event, so there was no avoiding the cold! However, I wore the extra warm tights and they were absolutely amazing!
The Ultra Warm Top
Oh my goodness! This is a game-changer! The last few days have been so cold that I’ve been wearing the extra warm thermal plus another top with a hoodie as a final layer! Today, I wore the ultra warm top and I feel so comfortable. I couldn’t believe it! I’ve since put a hoodie on as well but I don’t need anything else. It’s currently 0.5 Degrees Celcius outside and even with the heating on, it’s not taking the edge off! However, this top has gone a long way to change that.
