What to do if you can't go vegan because you'll miss cheese...
"I would go vegan but I can't give up cheese!"
I’ve heard a number of people say that they can’t go vegan because they can’t give up cheese. I’ve heard others say that they can’t find a good one and that’s stopping them from going vegan.
Thinking back to how you discovered which cheeses you like….
You know which cheese you like now. You know which types, flavours and styles you prefer. But did you like every single cheese you tried? Did you like every brand of cheese that you came across?
I remember when I was vegetarian, I didn’t like some because they were too strong, others were too tangy, some were too crumbly, others smelt strange and so on. There was one that I loved. It was Sainsbury’s and I could eat it on its own, in a sandwich, in baked foods etc.
What I’m trying to say is that I had to try a number of cheeses before I knew what I liked and what I didn’t.
Why would it be any different with vegan cheese?
It’s a bit of effort but there’s so many to try, I’m sure you’ll find one you like. It might feel like a waste of money, but I would see it as an investment in finding something that is going to help me make a positive change. If you’re like me and you don’t like wasting food, you can gift what you don’t use to friends, family or use an app like Olio.
Where to find vegan cheeses
We are so lucky now. We don’t have to go to specialist shops because most of the supermarkets stock vegan cheese and/or sell their own brand of cheese too!
If these don’t suit you, there are plenty of options available online or in independent shops.
Vegan cheese boards

So will you let something like this stop you from going vegan?
