When I want a hot and spicy pizza, my first choice has been Pizza Parlour for a number of years!
Discovering Pizza Parlour
Mum and I went to Wembley to grab a bite at Maru’s in Wembley. I think this is when we noticed Pizza Parlour, so we popped in to have a look at the menu and the Pilli Pilli caught my eye straight away!
I wasn’t vegan then, so I ordered it as it came and loved it! It was so SO hot but it was so enjoyable!
What happened after I shifted to a vegan diet?
After going vegan, when I craved this hot and spicy pizza, I’d order it without the cheese. I did this because Pizza Parlour didn’t have a vegan cheese alternative. The base was ‘vegan by accident’ and everything apart from the cheese was also vegan. So a cheeseless pizza it was! :)
Wembley isn’t that close to where I live and parking isn’t always easy, so I don’t go there often. Thus, when I do go to Wembley, I get a large Pilli Pilli and enjoy it throughout the day for a couple of days.
One day I decided to try it with cheese, so I grated some of Asda’s vegan mature cheddar and it was delicious! It melted nicely, tasted fab and pacified the chillies a little, taking it back to how it was when I first tried this pizza i.e. my pre-vegan days.
Pizza Parlour introduces vegan cheese
It was a big thing for Pizza Parlour to introduce vegan cheese. The owner/manager wouldn’t divulge anything about the brand, apart from saying that it was expensive and they use a blend of two or more cheeses.
I ordered the Pilli Pilli with vegan cheese and was mega excited. Funnily enough, I preferred it with Asda’s vegan cheese, so I now order it without cheese and enjoy it as it is and then add my own cheese at home,
While we were there, we tried their garlic bread with cheese and herbs, the Masala Chip Chat which includes beans, onions, cheese and chillies. We enjoyed that.
My last visit to Pizza Parlour
The last time I went to Pizza Parlour, I got my regular order and we tried the Chilli Cheese Garlic Bread which has a special chilli sauce, vegan cheese and chillies. That was yummy!
I think that my opinion of the vegan options at Pizza Parlour is obvious. Not everyone can take spice and some simply don’t want spicy food. That’s fine because they have lots and lots of other options too. I’ve gone on about the spicy ones because that’s what pulls me there. If you’re not keen on spicy food, don’t let that put you off.
