Plant Shift

love ♥ living ♥ vegan

Following a plant-based or vegan lifestyle, is about food, drink, clothes, shoes, body treatments, hair products and more.

It's a conscious decision to think, walk and possibly, talk a better lifestyle.

I support individuals who are thinking about making the shift, as well as, those who have already begun their plant-based journey.

Vegan eats in the West Coast of America

Jilna's experience of travelling on the West Coast

Jilna has been vegan for three years. She lives in London, and has always found it easy to grab a bite to eat or dine out. However, she hasn't always had the same experience when travelling abroad.

That changed in 2015! She holidayed in the West coast of America, and realised, that what she had heard about vegan options was no exaggeration! They were great! She was thoroughly impressed!

True Food Kitchen – Santa Monica, Los Angeles

One of the first stops was at True Food Kitchen is a lovely place for a casual light lunch whilst exploring Santa Monica. It has a number of options for vegans from soups to sandwiches made with fresh seasonal ingredients including Andy’s favourite TLT.

Tableau - The Wynn, Las Vegas

I then had a stopover in Las Vegas, and was told Tableau was the place to eat. The brunch here was awesome, a must for any vegan visiting Vegas! They have a separate vegetarian menu which includes lots for vegans. I had the eggs benedict’s (made from tofu of course!) with scrumptious vegan pancakes topped with marinated mixed berries and soy whipped cream. All washed down with several cup of tea with soya milk.

Ferry Building Marketplace – San Francisco

The final stop was San Francisco, and during the day I paid a visit to the Ferry Building Marketplace. This market was a paradise for sweet-toothed vegans like myself. A particular favourite were the beautiful soft organic vegan doughnuts by Pepples, with so many different flavours, one just wasn’t enough! Also managed to hunt down vegan pop tarts at Mariposa, I truly was spoilt for choice!

Roam Artisan Burgers – San Francisco

It was time for dinner and a thought popped into my head, “What is a visit to America without eating an incredible burger?” And incredible burger indeed it was. I created my own vegan burger at Roam, with an organic veggie patty, avocado and a shed load of veggies. Completed the meal with skinny fries. Delicious!

At the end of the trip there was plenty of delicious vegan food goodness still left to try. So I think it’s safe to say that being vegan on the West Coast was as easy as being a vegan at home!  I’d call that a success in my book!
