Just Desserts: the recipe book for EVERY kitchen
Why I created Just Desserts
My last recipe book only contained savoury recipes. This was because the majority of people I came across, back then, felt stuck about daily cooking. A number of people were under the assumption that going plant-based equated to cooking for hours on end. This simply wasn’t true, so I attempted to share a number of recipes that were less than thirty minutes from start to finish.
Since then, there’s a lot more awareness about savoury plant-based food but there seems to be a myth that vegans can’t eat dessert and if they are lucky enough to find a dessert, it will taste pants. The other thing I’ve heard is that all plant-based desserts that taste good can’t be made at home by us regular folk. No! They would have to be made by some sort of advanced professional chef! Again, I knew this wasn’t true and I wanted to share that. This is why I created Just Desserts.
What’s the motivation behind the recipes?
The book includes a variety of recipes from different parts of the world because I wanted to show that desserts, from anywhere, could be veganised and taste fabulous!
The ingredients can be found in mainstream supermarkets, which also shows how easy they are to make. No need to go to some sort of exotic shop to track down the ingredients.
The recipes include meringue and cheesecake because I wanted to show these desserts, which are traditionally non-vegan, are not struck off the menu for vegans.
Why create a printed book as well as an eBook?
When I launched my first recipe book, I got a lot of feedback about the fact that it was an eBook. Here are some of the things that people shared:
recipe books should be in print
everything else is on a screen, it’s nice to cook without one
there’s something about the photos being printed that makes a difference to the cooking experience
we can write in the books and then pass the book down, along with any learnings
The deets about the book
it contains thirty-two recipes
each recipe is accompanied with beautiful photography to inspire the reader to make something that tastes good and looks fabulous
as I mentioned above, the recipes use accessible ingredients i.e. the vast majority can be purchased in mainstream supermarkets
it’s super inclusive because anyone and everyone can eat plant-based food
it will be especially useful for those who don't consume eggs or dairy or are trying to have more plant-based food
the recipes include everything from cookies to meringues
over half of the recipes take less than an hour from start to finish
information about the costs and discounts can be found in the form below 🙂
