Beech House: vegan options, service and the set up
I don’t know how I missed it before
I’ve walked passed The Beech House a few times but somehow, haven’t registered it, gone inside or looked at the menu.
I was in Watford a few weeks ago and everything changed. I’ll tell you what I loved about Beech House:
the colours
the layout
the amount of seating
the variation in table size & shape
the spaciousness
the vegan options
the service
There was one person in particular who was awesome! Her name was Georgia. She had the right balance between being attentive without being in your face, sharing what others like and have returned for when I wanted some guidance and she took great care in packing what I couldn’t eat.
What is The Beech House
The Beech House is a cosy, pub that doesn’t feel like a pub! The menu is vast and caters for many.
It’s part of The Okaman Inns.
The food
The food was tasty and presented well. It was also delicious! I ordered the following to share:
Artisan bread, oil & balsamic: Extra virgin olive oil, aged balsamic vinegar
Avocado. rocket & new potato: Garlic & basil marinated Marzanino tomatoes, new potatoes, baby spinach, avocado, rocket & basil pesto
Plant-based cottage pie: Plant based mince, mash potato, tenderstem broccoli, roasted butternut squash
Baked chocolate chip cookie dough: Honeycomb ice cream, chocolate sauce
Spiced sourdough sticky toffee pudding: Salted caramel ice cream, spiced toffee sauce
Here’s the main menu which I ordered from.
My favourites
I have three favourites. I am surprised to tell you that one of my favs was the salad. It was a generous portion and it was absolutely delicious! The cottage pie was so so good. My ultimate favourite was the sticky toffee pudding. Oh my goodness! I’d happily make a trip to Watford, just to have that dessert!
“I’d never go vegan because I love food too much and vegans must find it so difficult to eat out!”
I hope that reviews like this show you how easy it is to be vegan and eat out.
I hope it busts myths, such as, we have to go to specialist restaurants.
I hope that it invalidates statements about us not being offered anything outside of sorbets.
