Plantopia: holistic well-being rituals to support the management and impact of stress on your mind, body and skin
Discovering Plantopia
I use Noughty products and have subscribed to their email. A few months ago, I received an email in which they introduced Plantopia. Over the last year, I stopped using skincare products because my skin had become sensitive due to having Long COVID. However, something had changed and my skin was ready to be exposed to other products. I wanted a skincare regime which was suited to my skin so I got in touch with Plantopia and Grace replied. She was amazing! She asked some questions and gave me the option of sending photos of my skin. She was thorough, devoted and forthcoming. Grace helped me work out which products to buy and I have loved all of them! So for this reason, I wanted to find out more about Plantopia and share it with you. Below, you’ll see an interview-style article which tells you how and why Plantopia came about, what their vision is and more.
What does Plantopia specialise in selling?
Plantopia provides holistic well-being rituals to support the management and impact of stress on your mind, body and skin. Our bath, body, skin and supplement products empower a sense of rebalance and recuperation. All of them are grounding by the use of adaptogens and essential oils.
Where is Plantopia based?
UK, London.
Where can Plantopia's creations be purchased and how?
Plantopia is currently available for purchase on Plantopialife.com
What inspired you to create a brand that includes Adaptogens and Essentials Oils in your products?
Plantopia formulations have been carefully curated from the plant-powered benefits of Adaptogens and the therapeutic aromas of Essential Oils.
Adaptogens were identified as the perfect plant-derived actives to power Plantopia due to their benefits in minimising the bodily response to stress, reducing the negative reactions during the alarm phase and eliminating, or at least decreasing, the onset of the exhaustion phase. They help our bodies cope more effectively with stress on the mind, body and skin, therefore adaptogens are perfect for powering the benefits and stress relief that we wanted to provide through Plantopia.
Essential oils are ‘essential’ to Plantopia, just like they are ‘essential’ to the plant that they are distilled or pressed from. They carry a distinctive scent and in nature, they deter hungry insects and herbivores to reduce the competition for moisture, light and nutrients; whilst attracting pollinators or preventing disease. This distinctive and aromatic scent can also be powerfully active by providing mood-altering, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic benefits. Research in the science of smell has shown that fragrances can have an intense impact on mood and our sense of well-being. Therefore Plantopia’s fragrances are made up of sophisticated, complex blends of essential oils that have been known to support mood.
How easy is it for you to source cruelty-free ingredients for your products?
Plantopia believes that beauty products should be cruelty-free and we are proud to be Leaping Bunny-approved. A global programme, Leaping Bunny requires cruelty-free standards over and above legal requirements. All of our own brand cosmetic and personal care products are approved under the Cruelty-Free International Leaping Bunny programme, the internationally recognisable gold standard for cruelty-free products. We adhere to a fixed cut-off date policy and proactively monitor our suppliers to ensure that our products continue to adhere to the Leaping Bunny criteria. Our supplier monitoring system is also independently audited. Since 2013, in the UK and EU member countries there has been a ban on using animals to test cosmetic products or ingredients this is something that Plantopia wholeheartedly supports.
For someone who hasn’t used your products before and is indecisive about what to buy; is there a particularly popular one you can name?
Our Detox & Purify range is Plantopia’s linchpin pillar and is what we suggest as being the universal first step in anyone’s journey towards well-being. It helps to bring back balance to the skin and take it back to its natural state, providing you with a clean slate to then focus on other areas of support for the body and skin.
The Detox & Purify Radiance Reboot Face and Eye Mask does exactly that for me while also encouraging ten minutes of time-out. My skin is left feeling cleansed and almost instantly radiant, with a natural, mattified glow, it’s my must-have in my skincare routine.
Also, we do have something very exciting coming in the next month. Something that will really help our customers understand what range and products will best support them on their journey to wellness with Plantopia.
Is Plantopia owned by, or in partnership with, another company that tests on animals or sells non-vegan products?
Plantopia is owned by KMI Brands. KMI Brands owns both Noughty Hair and Bodycare and Plantopia, both of these brands are cruelty-free and have vegan formulations.
What is your vision for the future of Plantopia?
The future is bright for Plantopia and through our People and Planet Manifesto, we have identified and committed to five critical focus areas that correspond to the people and planet wellness challenges which impact our world today.
Our focus areas are:
Planet
People
Ecosystems
Community
Social
Each of these areas set out clear goals for us to achieve by 2030 and they sit at the heart of our brand.
For example, so far within our Planet focus we have collected 6,057kg of plastic from the Western Central Pacific Ocean, the Dadap River and the Ciliwung River, which is the equivalent of removing 611,818 plastic water bottles.
Within our Ecostyems focus we have become members of the Union for Ethical Biotrade (UEBT), an organisation committed to regenerating nature and securing a better future for people, through ethical sourcing of ingredients from biodiversity.
Our vision is to continue to inform, inspire, lead and activate, both our decision-making and goal-setting so that as a community, we achieve significant positive change for People and Planet heath. Manifesto.
