The woman behind the dairy-free creamer, NutPods
I came across nutpods recently. It offers a vegan alternative to traditional creamers, and I must say it was delicious! Nutpods are versatile, because it can be used in tea, coffee, smoothies and more. Scroll down and check out the interview with the founder of nutpods, Madeline Haydon.
What does nutpods specialise in selling?
We are currently selling three flagship products: Original, French Vanilla, and Hazelnut dairy-free creamers. All of them have a base of almonds and coconuts to create a rich yet mild creamer. A perfect alternative to half and half.
Where is nutpods based?
Our headquarters are in southern California and the product is made in northern California. But we’re a virtual company with team members in Irvine, Los Angeles, Seattle, and Dallas.
Do you exclusively serve those who are local to you or can others who are further away access your products too? If so, how?
Anyone in the U.S. can buy our products through Amazon and our own site, nutpods.com. We are working hard to expand so that we can distribute nationally. Currently nutpods is available in 200 retailers in Washington, Oregon, and California.
What inspired you to create a business that solely focuses on vegan creamers?
I am dairy intolerant. I waited and waited for a creamer that was vegan and rich and creamy, but a true alternative to half and half never came, so I decided to launch nutpods.
How easy is it for you to source cruelty free ingredients for your products?
Our products are certified vegan and we always strive to create products that are free from harmful ingredients, and are environmentally friendly.
Do these ingredients effect the outcome in comparison with non vegan creamers?
We believe that using vegan ingredients gives nutpods the richest, creamiest consistency that rivals a traditional half and half.
For someone who hasn't tasted your creamers, can you tell us when you like to use the 3 different creamers that you have created?
Great question! Our Original flavour is great for so many things, including coffee and tea for people who like a traditional creamer taste. It can also be used in sweet and savoury recipes. We currently use Original nutpods when we make quiche, mac n cheese, and a creamy vodka tomato sauce, among other things. You can find out more about these recipes here. Our other two flavours, French Vanilla and Hazelnut, are great in coffee and tea, and they are perfect for dairy-free sweet recipes, like chocolate ganache, pancakes and ice cream.
Is nutpods owned by, or in partnership with, another company that tests on animals or sells non-vegan products?
No animal testing, however our suppliers may also sell non-vegan products.
Tell me a bit about yourself before you launched nutpods?
Before launching nutpods I received my MBA and worked in the health industry. I am also a proud mom of two beautiful girls ages 6 and 2.
What is your vision for the future of nutpods?
We will want people all over the globe, to love being dairy free with us! We will always prioritise our customers needs and listen to their feedback to create products that they will want to use in their daily lives.
