My thoughts on the selection box of vegan cheese by Sophie's Delight
Enjoying a cheeseboard with the family
We were due to meet some family over Christmas. I thought it would be the perfect occasion to take a variety of cheeses and crackers, so that we could experience these delights together.
To avoid us getting too close to each other, I was going to prepare individual cheeseboards that would include a sample of each of the cheeses shown above, as well as, a range of crackers. However, we went into Tier 4 and meeting people outside our households over Christmas was cancelled.
What would I do with all this cheese?
I had ordered the All The Way Box from Sophie’s Delight. As soon as the order arrived, I unpacked it and then froze the cheese. They can be frozen for three months. I think I got the order about three weeks before we were due to meet. I thought we might be able to meet in January but as that got more and more unlikely, I wondered how the two of us would manage to eat all the cheese between us.
What we did in the end
A few days ago, I defrosted the cheeses and put a sample of each one on our cheeseboard, along with a few different types of crackers.
It was awesome! Very satisfying and something that we don’t do very often. I get quite excited about ordering cheeseboards when we’re out but Suraj isn’t a huge fan, so unless there are others with us, who like the idea of sharing a cheeseboard with me, I won’t order it. Thus far, I don’t ever recall ordering one, so this was mega exciting for me.
What did I think of the various cheeses?
Here are my thoughts, in order of preference.
These are the ones that I really liked:
Cashewmbert
Spicy
Natale
I liked this one:
Smoky
There was only one that I didn't like:
Truffled
The ones that I can't handle due to long COVID:
Cashewrella
Kinda cheddar
Herbivore
Prior to enduring long COVID symptoms, I think I would have loved the three listed above. However, my sense of taste and smell is warped at the moment and one of the things that I can’t handle is onion and garlic.
I liked the fact that the cheeses were different in terms of texture and density. They didn’t feel like they were the same base cheese with different flavours added.
I also think that the portions were good.
The cheese I’ve not mentioned yet
The order included Rawmesan, which was never intended to be used as part of the cheeseboard. It was delicious! We finished it long before we defrosted the cheeses that I’ve described above. We used it on a variety of pasta dishes and absolutely loved it!
What did we do with the cheese that we couldn’t finish between us?
We gifted it to loved ones whom we know would enjoy them. No waste, no remorse and no rule-breaking! We dropped it to them without going in their home, briefly explained it and went home.
Would I order from Sophie’s Delight again?
Definitely!
