Deliciousness from Fudo Brands
The location and its history
The location of Fudo Brands is where Chai Naasto used to be. That became Two Peas, which was a vegan diner. Two Peas became a vegetarian business which only offered takeaway services. However, the same unit has now become a venue that houses a collection of brands that offers collection and delivery service.s These brands used to have a mix of vegetarian and vegan foods but they have recently opted to become fully vegan.
There have been a number of changes in a short space of time but I think it’s awesome that they are trying so hard to create a range of vegan brands that veganise items that would traditionally be non-vegetarian or vegetarian.
Ordering a range of dishes from Fudo Brands
Here’s a breakdown of what we ordered, where from and what I thought of it.
Yooow Vegan
Plantain with Bean Sauce: Plantain served with Caribbean spiced black bean sauce.
Seasoned Cassava Fries & Banana dip: Caribbean flavoured Cassava fries accompanied with spicy banana sauce.
We liked both of these. The condiments complemented the food well.
Karma Oriental
Vegetarian Satay Sticks served with peanut sauce: Vegetarian style chicken satay sticks served with cucumber battons, Vegetable pickle and their very own signature satay sauce.
I would have enjoyed it more if the Satay sauce was thicker and I’ve conveyed this to the owner.
Vegetable Katsu: Vegetable katsu (aubergine, butternut & sweet potatoes katsu) served with curry sauce and jasmine rice.
Tasty and deceivingly heavy. At first glance, I thought that the curry sauce wasn’t enough but it was concentrated and was just the right amount, for the portion of rice included.
Veg Hakka Noodles: Wok tossed noodle with vegetables, signature dish traditional way of Taiwan’s Hakka community.
I liked this but it was a bit spicy for the husband!
Texcoco
Nachos Azul: Blue corn tortilla nachos topped up with salsa ,pimento cheese and guacamole
Suraj and I loved these, both on its own, as well as, with the condiments. Moreish!
Mr India
Meal Box Veg Korma: Vegetable Korma Served with Steam Rice, Tarka Daal, Naan & Laccha Salad.
Tasty and the portion was generous.
Naan: Whole wheat bread cooked in a clay oven.
This was pretty large and it tasted how we remembered it to be, prior to us being vegan. It was soft and fluffy. I’ve shown this on a 28cm frying pan, so you get an idea of the size of it.
Vegan World
Jaffa Cake: Three layers of orange flavoured sponge layered with an orange flavoured gel filled & side masked with chocolate icing.
I should have tasted the Salted Caramel Brownie first because although it was delicious, it was nothing compared to the Jaffa Cake.
Salted Caramel Brownies: Baked brownie with dark chocolate and salted caramel sauce.
This was lovely and just the right size.
How to order dishes from different brands without placing multiple orders
If you’re collecting your order, you can probably order what you want from whichever brand, but if you’re getting it delivered, is there a way to try dishes from a few different brands? Yes! Instead of placing multiple orders from each brand, Fudo Brands have made it easy for us. If you order from Vegan World, you’ll see a selection of dishes from most, but not all of the brands.
The brands that we’ve not ordered from yet
There are plenty of cuisines and brands within Fudo Brands. The only brand that we haven’t ordered from yet is Friesology. We didn’t order from Two Peas this time as we have eaten their food plenty of times before.
Would I order from Fudo Brands again?
Definitely! Why?
I want to support small businesses
I prefer ordering food from vegan businesses over all others
the owners have had a rocky journey but are really trying to make this latest venture work
Fudo Brands could have remained as it was i.e. a mix of vegetarian and vegan brands, but they’ve intentionally changed it to being fully vegan in an attempt to showcase delicious vegan foods, from a range of cuisines, for anyone who’s adventurous enough to try them.
