What an amazing feast! This vegan cheeseboard had cheese from four different places!
I’ve written about my love of cheeseboards before. Well…kinda. Basically, I like the idea of trying different cheeses and supporting different companies but I don’t really have anyone to to share this with! Why? Well my friends and family either aren’t a fan of cheese, they ‘don’t like vegan stuff’, they can’t meet due to dependents, they would love to share a cheeseboard with me but they live too far from me etc etc.
I was faced with an opportunity when my brother-in-law came over to watch a film with us. He said he would prefer to have snacks, rather than, dinner and that’s when it occurred to me! He said yes whilst also mentioning that he’s really fussy with cheese. He later told me that he didn’t expect to like any of them!
So where did I shop? Well…I wanted to go all out and have a large variety so I got a selection from Honestly Tasty and another from Abel and Cole. I was thinking about things that I hadn’t tried but forgot that there will be some cheeses that we have on a regular basis, which my brother-in-law hasn’t tried before. He mentioned something about soft cheese, so I brought out the one we usually have in our fridge. It’s by Violife and we usually get it from whichever supermarket we’re shopping from i.e. Waitrose, Morrisons, Tesco or Sainsbury’s. As part of our last grocery shop, I spotted vegan Boursin, so I ordered that from Sainsbury’s. The only other thing we needed was a variety of vegan crackers. No issues finding them in any of the supermarkets that we shop from. So I was all set!
How did the cheeseboard turn out?
It was awesome!
My hubby, Suraj isn’t really a fan of these things but this time, he loved it! He said he was positively surprised. He felt full and said it was delightful and scrumptious.
I was excited about trying all these cheeses, positively overwhelmed with the number of choices and so so happy with the mix of flavours, textures and styles. They were delicious!
We all had our favourites and there may have been one or two that we weren’t keen on but this was different for each of us, so that worked out really well!
What did my ‘cynical’ brother-in-law think?
He said he was surprised as he was expecting himself to say that he didn’t like them but he liked all of them. He loved the variety and said that he couldn’t fault it!
How wonderful! :)
What did we do with the leftovers?
We enjoyed them, of course! However, there was a bit more than what we could eat over the next couple of days, so I reached out to a few people to find out if they’d like to try some different cheeses and the person who could pick them up received two containers of cheese, each with a map, so they knew what they were eating!
