PickyWops managed to impress two customers who aren't even considering going vegan!
What is PickyWops?
I've been hearing about PickyWops on Twitter, and on groups on WhatsApp, and all of it has been positive. A few people have said that they're the best they've ever had! 'What?' I hear you ask! PickyWops is a pizzeria. They have a wide selection of bases, toppings, and you can have your crust stuffed! Isn't that cool?
PickyWops goes from being an omni business (serving meat and veg), to becoming fully vegan
Cristiano Vitelli is a professional pizza chef, and he's one of the owners. He has been exploring going vegan since the summer of 2016. In 2017, he took part in Veganuary and decided to make a permanent shift to veganism. He told me that he couldn't be vegan, whilst cooking and serving non-vegan food, so he transformed PickyWops into a fully vegan business.
Who should go and eat at PickyWops?
PickyWops is for everyone! My hubby, (Suraj) and I, went with Suraj's cousins who aren't vegan. They loved it! One of them said 'One happy customer here' and commented on how, as a vegetarian, he couldn't tell it was vegan, and he didn't feel like he'd missed out on anything.
The order...
The pizzas come in one size, so we ordered four! I convinced them to get four different pizzas, each with a different base, so that we could all share. If we couldn't finish them, we'd have the bonus of having leftovers.
Here's what we ordered:-
My brother-in-law ordered Pizza number 6 - Today's special
Tomato, mozzarella, mushrooms, onion, roasted peppers and Parmesan, on a Turmeric base
I ordered Pizza number 8 - Bello Crudo
Tomato, mozzarella, rocket, spinach, Camembert and grapes, on a Kamut base
Suraj ordered Pizza number 13 - Ravenous Lumberjack
Tomato, mozzarella, sausage, smokey cheese and mushrooms, on a Burned Wheat base
My brother-in-law ordered Pizza number 17 - Estate
Mozzarella, rocket, fresh tomato and rice mozzarella, on a Multigrain base
My favourite was the special on a Turmeric base. My hubby loved the Estate on the Multigrain base. Both of my brother-in-laws liked what they had ordered the best.
We ordered all three desserts as well. We were so satisfied afterwards, but not just with the meal. We loved Cristiano's personal touch, the reasons behind PickyWops going vegan, and the fact that the intention of the business, is clearly to serve, rather than, focused on profit.
We had a lovely experience at PickyWops, and I'd urge you to have a meal there.
Make sure you book
PickyWops is quite small, so please make sure that you book a table. You can of course grab a pizza to go, but you won't be able to enjoy the stuffed crust if you do that, as it's only for those who eat-in.
