I am grateful to Brenda Davis who has worked with me to openly and accurately respond to common questions about shifting to a vegan diet.
A bit about Brenda: She is a registered dietitian, and she has been a featured speaker at international nutrition, medical and health conferences in over a dozen countries, and she has worked in different fields of nutrition.
Below, Brenda discusses why people go vegan and the benefits of making this shift. She also addresses some of the myths around vegan eating, and the things that we should keep an eye on.

I am excited for you to read this article. In summary, it's about how what we consume affects our health.
Dr. Ashwani Garg has kindly shared how he decided the type of medicine that he wanted to specialise in, the events that led to his discovery of veganism, why he went vegan and the amazingness that followed. This shift in thinking and diet had an impact which he hadn't envisaged. For me, the best part of all of this, is that he has no regrets, and he uses his direct experiences to help so many people attain a better quality of life.

I am grateful to Tiffany Damle for writing the second part of this article, in which she has shared going her journey from eating a lot of meat, to becoming vegan for the safety and protection of animals, for better health and the environment too. One choice, which led to a positive effect on so many things.
Along the way, Tiffany endured surprises, and confusion about why so much of the readily available information is inaccurate and misguiding! However, she worked her way through it and ended up experiencing the priceless benefits that she describes below.

My previous trip to Paris was awful
The last time I went to Paris was a number of years ago, and although it probably was beautiful, friendly and romantic; I didn't recall it that way at all! All I remembered was that, the waiters/chefs didn't know what vegetarian meant, or they didn't want to cater for us, and they didn't seem to care about amending dishes on the menu or creating something to enable us to enjoy a nice meal.
Suraj arranged a surprise trip to Paris
Find out how it went...

But so many studies say that fish is good for you...
We've all been there. We hear one thing and we accept it because it makes sense. But then, we hear something that contradicts it and we're left confused. Some of us may end up giving up because we don't know what to believe in, others may put their faith in the wrong information, and some might do a bit of research to eliminate the conclusions that are partial or exaggerated.
Watch this short video to find out what Dr. Mehta has to say about comparison and context.

This article has been written by Kaleb Rogers. He's been vegan for a few years, and like many others, he's shied away from being open about it. I love the lighthearted way in which, he's captured the dilemmas he's faced, along with when he felt safe enough to openly, talk about his lifestyle.

Which studies should I believe?
There are so many studies being quoted all over the place! One recommends a certain level of drinking but another study negates it. There's some excitement about dairy being harmful, followed by statements that it isn't! How do we know what to believe? What should we embrace and strive towards?
Dr. Tushar Mehta describes the characteristics of a good study, to help us work out which studies we should ignore and which ones we should pay attention to.

Is it worth asking if a restaurant has any vegan options when their menu doesn't show any signs that they do?
Suraj (my hubby) came across a new restaurant (La Tana) on our local High Street. He liked the look of it and once he knew that it was a family run business, he knew I'd want to support it, so he decided to go in and enquire about vegan options.
Find out about the amazing unexpected change that came about because of this conversation.

Hotels that cater for vegans
More often than not, I've stayed in a hotel whilst I'm on holiday. I like exploring and walking when I'm away, so when booking a hotel, I would think more about location and comfort, than food. This is because I would be hoping to eat while I'm out and about.
Within England, I've recently used hotels as a way of avoiding driving a long distance and then drive back again within a few hours. In these cases, I've usually booked hotels where breakfast is an extra option, and then had brunch before leaving to return home.
Find out how I felt about staying at the West Park Hotel for 5 days.
